Things Mommy Said/Says

Many have heard the phrase, "I brought you into this world and I'll take you out."  Maybe your mom or dad said it.  Maybe you remember when Bill Cosby said it to Theo in the clip below (one of my all time favorite episodes).

Today, after hearing a parent say that phrase to her misbehaving child I got to thinking about all the unintentionally funny things my mom said to me in my younger years... and now even.

Oh, how my mom loved to turn things into people or parts of people; it was usually my father and occasionally a cousin.  Her own grand form of personification.

Once when she saw me litter she said, "if you don't pick up your father's nose..."  I never littered again.

When I forgot to put my books away she said, "Gwei, come here and put your  father's backside in its place."  Didn't leave a book out for years.

When I would cry starvation in an attempt to get her to buy me outside food before we got home she'd ask, "are you really that hungry?"  "Yes," I'd reply.  "You'll be just fine.  You have enough adipose tissue to sustain you for decades."  The first time she said that I found my face in a dictionary reading about adipose tissue.  My mom had effectively played me.

"In histology, adipose tissue or body fat or fat depot or just fat is loose connective tissue composed of adipocytes. It is technically composed of roughly only 80% fat; fat in its solitary state exists in the liver and muscles. Adipose tissue is derived from lipoblasts. Its main role is to store energy in the form of lipids, although it also cushions and insulates the body."    - from Wikepedia

Mommy had a knack for playing me and fooling me too.  Every time she asked if I was really that hungry I would think when I said yes she was going to give in and get me a Happy Meal.  That never happened.  And every time she mentioned adipose tissue and made me wait to eat a home cooked meal I thought I was being punished.  Didn't know how good I had it...

When I would forget to close a door she'd ask, "did you mean to leave your father's mouth open?"

That woman is funny.

As a child I want was my favorite phrase.  Still is.  I want so many things...

Every time I would ask my mom for something if her answer was no I would say, "but I want it."  Her response was always, "lucky for you, you're old enough for your wants not to hurt."  Hmmm... I still don't know how I feel about that one.

Has your mother (or father or guardian) ever used any of these phrases?  Similar ones? Does she, he or your family have phrases that only they use?  Please share.

So What You're Only A Friend In My Head

I posted this link under the Acting tab the other day... considering my/our slight yet healthy obsession I'm going to post it here too.

My Aunty/Mentor/Friend in my head in the name of our Juilliard bond never disappoints.  Say It Like You Mean It is the name I'm giving Ms. Viola Davis this week and forever.

Watch her interview with Charlie Rose by CLICKING HERE.  It begins at the 20 minute mark.

In this interview she candidly stated, "My dream was to be somebody..." Aunty (in my head), you ARE definitely somebody!

'Tis The Season Finale

We have many reasons to be jolly; believe me the list is long.  Somewhere on that list is the fact that we completed season one of our love project without proper equipment, a real budget, plan or the amount of knowledge and know how we have now.  Who  knew this would be the project that inspired the start of our own production company...

Season two will be ALL THAT & THEN SOME!  It premieres on April 1, 2012. We cannot wait to share it with you... save the date.

Stay tuned to www.shittyfab.com for new video posts, behind the scenes footage and more.

Below is episode #6- WHAT THE WHAT, the season finale.  To watch episodes 1-5 by click here.

What's something you're jolly about?  Please share.

This Name Is Not A Mistake

an old favorite taken by CJC
what's in a word?  what's in name?

we are often asked about the title of this blog.  why shitty?  why not something else?

because something else wouldn't have been right.  shitty fit.  fabulous fit.  together the two words work and express exactly what we acknowledge about our existence on a daily basis.

if i say, " that's shitty, it's shitty, he or she treated me like a piece of shit, i stepped in shit, this taste like shit, i feel like shit..."  you get it, right?

sure, i do have an extensive vocabulary that my mother spent  a lot of money on but sometimes that vocabulary fails.  sometimes i need the descriptor of choice to sound as gritty, as base or as beautiful as the moment may feel.  when i feel like shit,  i feel like shit and no other word will work.

the way i look at it, saying i feel like shit is, by far, better than throwing an adult tantrum.  please remember use of the word adult is relative...

the fabulous part of the title  is never questioned.  never.

i get that.  everyone can imagine living a fabulous life all the time.  nobody wants to settle in the shit  and imagine a shitty life.  i get it.

but the plain truth IS that life IS shitty fabulous.  we don't always get what we want, things can change in an instant, for brief spans of time (when we think we are in control) we loose sight and may believe we have it all or don't have anything at all... there are ups and downs...

our choice of  the shitty fabulous moniker is a way of reminding ourselves, very quickly, that we are blessed.  does that make sense?  every time we fix our mouths to say something is shitty we are  immediately thrust into remembering that if something is shitty about a situation there is also something fabulous about it.

can you accept that?

we are committed to looking for the fabulous when the shitty shows its face.  there is a lot of shitty but the fabulous will always outweigh all of it.

we're frank here.  use of the word shitty is an extension of the frankness... that's all.

we see you shitty and we knock you back with fabulous.  that's what's in this name... a knock out.

want to get into the nitty gritty of the shitty fabulous philosophy click here.

want to hear how we actually arrived at the title for this blog and subsequently the series?  click here and watch this.

Have You Ever Loved Someone

At some point in the day I started thinking about this song and now I can't stop. That clearly meant I had to post it here. Perhaps I was inspired by a lovely, funny post I read over at One Sister's Rant.

Anyway, I haven't gotten there yet but have you ever loved someone so much you'd thought you die?

Gotta love a classic!

Outfit Of The Day

I've never done an outfit of the day post.  I suppose there's a first time for everything.

This post is necessary because my dear friend Joseph, who lives in another part of the country,  gave me the pants I'm wearing (and a few other beautiful things) as a gift when she returned from her trip to India.  One day when we were on the phone I told here that I wore the pants and they were a hit.  She asked, "Why don't you ever take pictures of your crazy outfits?"  That day I wore the pants with a royal blue tank, an orange belt, yellow suede platforms and a fitted black leather jacket. A little crazy?  Yes, but trust me it was very cute.

Here you go Joseph. Today I wore my printed silk pants from India with an orange tank, a skinny brown belt, brown boots, a comfy cream sweater and my favorite leather trench that I got for 6 bucks in a thrift store over 10 years ago.  The outfit is not as crazy as the first time I wore the pants but different days call for different things...

Don't you love great gifts from friends?

Check out the beginnings of  shop.shittyfab.com.  You might find a great gift there to give a friend.

Shout out to C. Neil who snapped the spontaneous pics.  What are you wearing?

Thankful

"Be thankful for what you have; you'll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don't have, you will never, ever have enough." - Oprah Winfrey

It's no secret that I love this time of year.  Why wouldn't I?  Some of the best things happen now.

We eat together and acknowledge those who came before us,  there is a surge in service, we say what we are thankful for, enjoy time with family and friends,  give gifts(the material and not material kind), love is spread more freely, there is a general warmth in the air, and reflection begins while we look ahead to the new year.

It's nice.

Simple is so nice.

"Appreciation is the highest form of prayer, for it acknowledges the presence of good wherever you shine the light of your thankful thoughts." - Alan Cohen

Happy holidays to all!

Uniquely Who? YOU!

Teyonah Parris on the red carpet
at AFI FEST 2011 "Shame"Gala Screening
"There is a vitality, a life force, an energy, a quickening that is translated through you into action, and because there is only one of you in all of time, this expression is unique. And if you block it, it will never exist through any other medium and it will be lost. The world will not have it. It is not your business to determine how good it is nor how valuable nor how it compares with other expressions. It is your business to keep it yours clearly and directly, to keep the channel open. You do not even have to believe in yourself or your work. You have to keep yourself open and aware to the urges that motivate you. Keep the channel open... "  -Martha Graham

 Say it again Graham!!!

At the moment, among other things, I am all about exploring what makes me ME.  The stuff that makes me unique.  You know- the goods.  Shout out to my sister friend, pictured above, who is doing the same(YOU LOOK BEAUTIFUL- love the hair).

It's so nice to surprise yourself sometimes...

What are you exploring these days?

Hey Young Metch

Lately I've been reading quite a few posts about what each writer would tell their younger self.  Those posts got me to thinking and asking, "what would I tell my younger self and all the young Metch like ladies who may happen upon this blog?"

I WOULD TELL MY YOUNGER SELF SO MANY THINGS!!!

I'll give you five from the million.

1. Pounding cement in heels for more that 8 hours a day is a very bad idea.  Join the masses and put a sensible pair of shoes in your bag.  Being cute is not worth the pain you happen to be experiencing right now as you type this post.

2. Put the muffin down.

3. You don't need it in every color. You are only going to wear one color anyway... save your money girl and put that back on the over priced rack.

4. Don't be proactive when you want to be... be proactive all the time!

5.  Your mother is right.  She does know best.  Suck it up and listen now because later you may find yourself wishing you had.

I really could go on and on and on and on...  You guys know how I love a list but 5 is enough.

What would you tell your younger self?

On Time

Everything happens for a reason, right?

We believe this wholeheartedly.

When things happen we often find ourselves trying to figure out what the reason for the happening is.

This happening was one of those rare occasions where we didn't need to figure out the what or the why.

So happy, so thankful, so surprised!
Follow me...

The other day I happened to be clicking my way through The Lady Bloggers Society website.  That's appropriate.  I'm a lady and I'm a blogger.  Anyway, on the site it was announced that new owners are running the ship over there and since that sparked a little bit of excitement in me I decided to comment on a post... fast forward...

When I checked our email today I found out that we happen to be the recipients of an LBS giveaway that not only includes advertising but an amazon.com gift card.  AHHHHHHHH!  This was the best news ever!!!   It's great to win things, it's even better when you actually need to win a thing and you win it.

During our last taping one of the cameras we use to shoot Shitty Fabulous Lives THE SERIES died.  It's finished.  Kaput.  We're so positive that it will never turn on again.  We knew we would have to buy a new one but we didn't know when we would be able to do so.

WE CAN DO IT NOW!  That's why we won.  With the amazon gift card we received we will be purchasing our new camera tonight.  So, when you see episodes 4-6 in season 1 and all of season 2 please know that some of that footage was made possible by our LBS winnings.

We loved LBS before but now we are in love with the team over there.  THANK YOU!!!  Random or not- THANK YOU!!!  This giveaway was right on time.

Seven Away & A Sneak Peek

When MinDog's mom(CrazyHeart),  the writer, became our first follower/promoter/sole comment leaving reader/one woman pep squad encouraging us to keep going with our crazy blog I personally thought she would be our only follower forever.  At first we told people via email and our facebook status updates that we had a blog in an attempt to make them followers.  We quickly let go of that and just kept blogging for ourselves as we figured out why we were really doing this.

The only thing I/we knew for sure was that we had to commit to it and we did.

It's very easy to start a blog, to start anything really but to maintain and keep something(in this case our Shitty Fab blog) going, growing, changing evolving is another thing...

We are still baby bloggers but we are here and this blog is becoming a reflection of us... of our growth of our journey.

Somewhere way back at the beginning we landed on the idea that this blog could/would document our living out front journey, this blog would be a testament to letting go of the crap and embracing the wonderful(at all times no matter how hard), this blog would be whatever we needed it to be at any given time and it would be honest and when we felt like not doing it anymore we would keep doing it anyway because it's too easy to give up.

In the past few months we came up with new blogging goals and decided that we should once again tell people that we exist and introduce ourselves.  What I'm getting at is this:  WE ARE VERY HAPPY TO BE ON THE VERGE OF HAVING 100 FOLLOWERS.  That is the whole point of this post.

CrazyHeart isn't the only one interested in our crazy!  There are a few others and there will be more...  What's exciting is knowing that every now and again our living out front helps someone else do the same; even better is knowing that we have made a few people laugh- out loud.  There is nothing better than laughing out loud!

*DEEP HAPPY SIGH*

Because we are so excited we will have  a special gift for our 100th follower  and the first  person who comments after we reach 100 followers...  Trust me this gift is good.  We do know a few skilled people in high places...  It's good!  So if you're aleady a follower send one or some or all of your friends to our blog and maybe you can split the gift/s...

Thank you so much for joining and following our journey!

"I haven't a clue how my story will end, but that's all right.  When you set out on a journey and night covers the road, that's when you discover the stars."                                                        -Nancy Willard
Found the quote above on Joyful Jones and fell in love with it... Maybe I'll have to get in to some Nancy Willard.

For Us?

A soft spoken, stiletto minded diva  who can appropriately be found over at her stiletto minded blog, has given our loud mouths the versatile blogger award.  WOOT, WOOT!!

Any award and every award we get- we accept.  It's only right.  Right?

We are over joyed, we are shedding tears, we are jumping up and down... Yes I tend to exaggerate a bit...  We are thankful for the recognition and the opportunity to share and spread some blog love.  Who doesn't want to be thought of as versatile?

Stiletto Minded thank you for thinking of us!

As you may or may not know these blog awards come with rules so we will get in line and follow them.  The rules for this award state that we must link to the person who gave it to us. Since we are SHITTY FAB- that means we go above and beyond- we'll link to the giving diva for the third time in this post just because we can.

The next rule- we have to list 7 things about ourselves(since there are two of us we will give you 14- once again- above and beyond). Last but not least we must pass the award/torch on to 15 other bloggers(see below our lists of 7 things).  Check out the blogs we decided to shout out and then come back and let us know how much fun you had hopping around.

Can I Be Down

While Mr. Denzel Washington is donating millions I'm wondering how I can get somebody, anybody to donate 5 bucks to my cause.  What's my cause you ask?  Anything that will get you to give me five bucks.

All jokes aside I love to hear and read about giving especially if the giving assists someone pursuing a career in a " lucrative artistic field."  Wait, does that exist?  Hmmm...

Giving is even better when I'm the recipient.  Not this time, maybe next.

Hey Mr. Washington, got a dollar?  I couldn't resist typing that.  Forgive me.

P.S. - Don't forget to watch episode 1 of Shitty Fabulous Lives THE SERIES because the second episode will be posted before you know it.  You wouldn't want to fall behind would you?

101 DAYZ: Big Big Baby

This is more of a rant than anything else about the medical profession and how they need to leave my "big baby" alone!

I'm an average sized woman, I was born 8lbs, 4oz. My husband while born at a more average weight, now stands at 6ft, 3in and 185lbs.  My dad is 6ft, 3in... etc.

At this point it's safe to say that my baby is going to come out BIG!

So what?

I'm tired of doctors and people in general treating their PREFERENCE as FACT!

The only true thing about all pregnancies is that the baby is gonna come out... OTHER THAN THAT EACH PREGNANCY IS DIFFERENT. There are SOOOOOO many variations! It's 2011 everyone KNOWS THIS!!

Clearly, my doctor doesn't like delivering big babies because everyone in the practice keeps commenting on X-Man's size.

The thing that is working my nerves is that MY BABY IS MEASURING WELL WITHIN THE RANGE OF "NORMAL" But no, they prefer to deliver 6lb babies vaginally so they are trying to make me think my baby is too big and that his size is a problem for natural birth!

I am 39 weeks tomorrow and the X-Man is measuring 7 1/2lbs (according to the doctor feeling the baby in my womb). Everything that I've read says that the baby, at this point, should weigh about 7lbs. So by my calculation- I'm doing WELL and he's doing WELL!

If I were to deliver tomorrow (which is very possible) I'D HAVE AN AVERAGE WEIGHT BABY! So why are they trippin'? And even if he gets bigger...who cares? I was over 8lbs myself.

So I'M PISSED...well sort of... I was pissed yesterday. Today I'm blogging so you can know how pissed I was yesterday.

I've done A LOT of RESEARCH!!! I'm that kind of person... and I don't think they like that. They just want to cut me open...NO!

Something That Fits

There isn't much you can do with a $43.00 budget but if you're MinDog & Metch you can make things happen(like the first season of your original web series)... this is where we begin. Enjoy Shitty Fabulous Lives THE SERIES (Episode 1- SOMETHING THAT FITS).

Be a part of  the craze now, it can/will only get better.

3 Minutes 45 Seconds

We said we would do it in the post titled EXCITED, EXCITED, EXCITED!  You better believe we've done it.

We are gearing up to premiere the first episode of Shitty Fabulous Lives THE SERIES on Saturday, October 1, 2011.  It will be available at 12 AM on our youtube channel and over at www.shittyfab.com.

At this point, all we can say for sure is that it takes a lot of hours to make a 3 minute and  45 second episode.

We're so proud of what we have been able to do with a budget that amounts to nothing and the help of 3 friends.  Thank you Christine, Axel and David!  Currently shooting scenes from episode two and we have already started writing episodes for season 2.   YAYAYAY!

We would love for you to tune in...don't worry we'll remind you.

Now check out this video we had to make because we surprisingly received mail.

In case you don't know- Shitty Fabulous Lives THE SERIES is an online sitcom/drama/we don't know what to call it- loosely and mostly based on our actual Shitty Fabulous Lives.

Happy NEW YEAR!

Let's CELEBRATE!
"Every year gets better."  I grew up hearing this come out of folks mouths all the time.  Now that I'm an official adult I'm saying it... BECAUSE IT'S TRUE.

I don't want to be five again.  I'm fine right here at twelve.  Happy Birthday/ Happy New Year to me!!!

This year has been one of growth and magnificent change.  I can't imagine not knowing what I know now so bye bye eleven; twelve I embrace you(again).

Examples of what I know now(for sure):  letting go of worry is liberating (I didn't know that or truly understand that at the beginning of last year), using my energy only for good is important (this may sound hokey but listen to me- we/I/you actually have the power to change your/our lives or someone else's life RIGHT NOW if you/we/ I walk in positive light and leave old Mr. Negativity on a corner to whore himself), like wine people really do get better with age...that's a scientific fact.

Party over here for real!

I'm looking forward to learning all lessons on a deeper level, experiencing everything that comes my way on a deeper level, to believing I'm enough as I am like I believe in love and to doing great things this year.  I did okay with my list from last year minus the driver's license part... I'll work on it this year, I promise.  You see I had lot's of other fears to get over- you know like not being afraid to state what I want without shame and not being afraid to step out of my box and not being afraid to accept my status as the daughter of a King... you see?

Now on to living the other 364 days... I can't wait because I KNOW what I want is coming to me.

Happy New Year to anyone else who was born on September 24th!

101 DAYZ: 9 Days and WAITING...

I have reached that point where I want to go into labor. It isn't the negative thing I've heard where pregnant women complain, "God I don't want to be pregnant anymore." It's more like I just want to see the baby!

I mean don't get me wrong I do want to sleep on my stomach again, be able to bend over, reach my feet, see my vagina, walk easily, sit with my legs closed, eat junk food...you know the simple things...

I'm waiting, wanting to see him. I'm in good spirits.

My brother is getting married on Saturday and Crazy Heart (my Mom) thinks I'm going to go into labor at his wedding. That's quite possible.

SIDE BAR: Have you noticed that my use of ellipses has gotten way out of control...

RETURNING... labor at the wedding would be crazy.

My brother and I recently shared a laugh because I wasn't going to have kids and he wasn't going to get married but now we're doing what we thought we'd never do at the same time. How did that happen?

God indeed has a sense of humor.

Yep, now I'm playing the waiting game. I'm hoping with every twinge of pressure I feel my widda wooda poo is working to come the heck out and join us OUTSIDE.

MY STOMACH IS SO BIG! People keep asking me if I'm having twins...It's time for him to come on out... LET'S GO X!

MiNdoG Owt!

101 DAYZ: Any Day Now

So, I'm sitting here while my widda poo poo is moving around like crazy and I'm thinking about the fact that as of TODAY...I am FULL TERM! I have completed 37 weeks of pregnancy. I'm at the "any day now" mark.

There's a functioning, fully formed baby moving inside of me.

Today I start walking like a mad woman. I'll be walking every minute of the day if I can stand it. I want him to drop down and get ready for the the big exit!

You know what's crazy to me? I can feel all of his body parts when he moves. Before it was just a mass of hard round stomach, but now it's real life baby parts that I feel- arms, legs, his head. Without question it's the most amazing thing ever, and the most strange...

The amazing strangeness of pregnancy is the interesting part- it can change you so much.

My hormones are back to being out of whack. I cry about/because of/at anything... Oh wait...I think I did that before pregnancy. WELL, ANYWAY...it's become worse!

Am I about to cry right now?

I have to admit that I'm better than I imagined I'd be. I thought I'd be a hormone monster.

This is the beginning of the waiting period.

When is the X gonna get here? Only God knows that...but I know I can't wait to see him!

101 DAYZ: I Call it Koochie Stretching

There are few things in this world that embarrass me. Now, ADD this to the list...

Some call it a taint, medical folks call it the perineum, some just consider it the space between your private part and your dookie hole.

None of that is important here. The only important thing is that you know what I'm referring to.

It wasn't until I got pregnant That I learned that those things(the taint, the perineum, or the space between the private part and your dookie hole)can rip and/or are cut by the doctor when giving birth.  OOOUUUUCCCHHHH!!!WHHHAAAATTTT!!!  I GAGGGED!

D and I have been so focused and now that I am about 27 days away from my due date, D and I have been doing something that is recommended to reduce the risk of a tear and it is awful!

KOOCHIE STRETCHING... Am I being too out front right now...TMI?

Well, I don't care.

The things that I'm doing for this baby already astound me. And I must admit...it is a little embarrassing to have your husband actively STRETCHING APART your WHO-HA with olive oil.

There is NOTHING sexy about it. God Bless him for his dedication.

'Til Death Do Us Part

Sometimes it's okay to be an international criminal.  Right?

Criminal, yeah, that's strong language but it makes me feel more mischievous and less cheesy.

Watch the video below for illumination... Yes I already know I'm cheesy (I just made note of that above) and corny and a tad sentimental at times and I'm not apologizing for it!

Collecting People: Edition #2 Benoit Begerault

Well, well, well I finally found another person to collect.  It's been a while but there is no time like the present.  Today I'd like to introduce you to Benoit Begerault (see video below).

How the heck did I meet this man? Airbnb that's how.

I was going to Paris and I had to find a place to stay.  Since I was determined to stay in a particular area and wanted to cut cost I tried an alternative to a regular hotel stay.  One of my friends suggested Airbnb and I'm glad she did!

I was a bit nervous(so were most of my friends and family as they demanded the exact address and asked why I couldn't stay in a hotel like a normal person).  I released the nervous energy well before I landed in France. I realized if the situation was bad, if Mr. Benoit Begerault was crazy I could always exit the building and head for a hotel.

My wallet is happy I didn't have to do that and so is my soul.

Benoit turned out to be funny, welcoming and warm.  I feel like we are on the verge of friendship.  He made me laugh, mapped out my daily plans for me (even when he was visibly tired), he gave me wine, and best of all he is an actor/film maker and lots more.  When he found me moving furniture and building a makeshift tripod out of random boxes in his house because I had to tape an audition he didn't even ask questions.  Benoit, bless his heart, even took time to ask how my day was every night and seemed interested in what I had to share even though I'm sure he's heard how much everyone loves the Eiffel Tower and all the tourist attractions in Paris more than a thousand times.

Watch the video below to meet Benoit and if you are ever going to Paris and want to change things up a bit-stay at one of the places he has to offer.  You will not be sorry!

101 DAYZ: The Wild Human Boy

I'm on the phone with Metch RIGHT NOW and we're talking about the baby. Well, really, I'm telling her about the baby.

The convo led me to think about what kind of genes my baby is getting. Since he has D and I as parents, I'm considering what OUR gene pool could produce...

I think our combined genes could make this.

A WILD HUMAN BOY!!

Is the world really ready? Am I ready?

And now that I'm so close (FULL TERM IN 2 WEEKS)... all I can say is...all I can say is... ... ... ...

Am I In New York?

For a second I thought I was in a New York City subway tunnel(see the video below). I'm definitely in Paris but in this instant it seemed a lot like home minus the rat infestation the MTA can't seem to control... (1 of 2 for MinDog and all of our followers of course).

I'm in love with this city. I DO NOT WANT TO LEAVE but I must. So instead of hating that I have to leave I've just decided that I will spend my next birthday in Paris.

September 24, 2012 I will be in Paris. Want to join me? Have you any idea where you will be or where you would like to be in 2012?

Angels

"People see God every day, they just don't recognize him." - Pearl Bailey

I collect obsessions the way I collect lists and people to love- in abundance and without caring that I may have to let it or them go.

I haven't started collecting  figurines or anything but I’m currently obsessed with angels.

I've noticed that they are everywhere!  I hadn’t been looking closely but once my eyes were opened, once I realized that angels, God’s messengers, are everywhere- I became obsessed.  People say it all the time (that angels are everywhere) but I hadn’t really seen them.  Really seen them.

I don’t mean I’ve had a visitation or anything like that.  I’m only saying- I KNOW I’VE SEEN ANGELS IN ACTION.

After I saw, I began to hunt.

Today I’m wondering if I should keep my angel hunts going or if I’m supposed to allow the angels to reveal themselves.

My obsession began after there was one revelation of an angelic being followed by several more(I'll tell you later- I promise)on three consecutive days… now I’m always looking; hunting.  When I smell a good deed my eyes open wider.  Is that an angel or a regular do gooder?

Hmmm...

Angel hunting is exhausting but it puts a whole new spin on people watching and observation.  Get into it if you dare.

Dear God, Thank you for everything.  Thank you for angels.  Your child, Metch

What?  Is my brief thank you note to God too much?  Your answer to that isn't  important... what I really want to know is- have you ever seen an angel?

Obsessed

As you may already know- I'm fascinated by all things good and all things Adele.  I've been obsessed with this video for a while now.  I watch it whenever I have a moment to spare(at least three times in a row to boot).  Will I ever stop watching it?  NO!  This is footage for study.

Simple.  Powerful.  Full.  Truthful.  Beautiful.

Um...you didn't ask but yes, I found earrings that look just like the ones she's wearing.

101 Dayz: Gay Bar Baby Shower

Only Metch can concoct the caliber of LIES and planning that led up this day!!

Add to that- a rag tag mob of my crazy friends and you have my SURPRISE Real Housewives of Atlanta themed Gay Bar Baby Shower!!

I WAS ACTUALLY PHAEDRA!!!!!

I mean pickle in mouth photo-shopped pregnancy photos and a huge poster of David and I dressed like Phaedra and Apollo holding their baby...folks walking around dressed like the housewives...I even had the damn ballet dancers!!! AND best of all I was set up...by METCH! I showed up looking like Phaedra looked at her shower- I had rhinestones on my face, lashes and all!!

HOW DID EVERYONE IN MY LIFE FOOL ME? HAHAHAHAHA!!!

THE LIE
Metch: MinDizzle I got myself involved in this thing. I can't tell you what it is...because I want you to be surprised. All I'm gonna tell you is that you have to come support me. I can't believe I am doing this...It's like this competition thing...
MinDOG: SON I am THERE!!!

As the weeks passed I got a little more information...

1. It involved some of our gay friends...

2. She was embarrassed because of what she had to perform in the show.

3. It was something like a pageant.

4. One of her friends was also in the show and she was helping him out.

5. She was wearing booty shorts and a bathing suit top in the opening number.

6. All of her guests had to arrive Blinged Owt! So that she could get extra points.

7. Since I am pregnant I should think of Phaedra when I get dressed because that would give her SOOOOOO many points.

ALL LIES!!!

God I love HER!! And I'm mad that she has always been the type of person that has so many crazy ideas and stories that I readily believed a story, that when I think of it now, I recognize as LUDICROUS!!!

I thought I was going to see her perform in some sort of gay pageant where she got points for her guests attire... hmmmm...
But all lies aren't bad.

I HAD THE TIME OF MY LIFE. I CRIED 200,000 TIMES.

There was even a running bet on how many times I would cry.
My friends are AMAZING BEYOND WORDS!

There was sooooo much LOVE!!

And I am sooooooooo blessed that I have people in my life who love me, David, and our yet to be born baby this much!!!

Our First Blog Award!

Looky here, looky here- we just received our first blog award and boy oh boy, we are thankful!

Fellow blogger Nicole over at THE WORLD OF MY IMAGINATION nominated us for the Liebster Blog Award (according to her latest post Liebster means dearest or sweetheart in German) and we are definitely honored.   Thank you Nicole P!!!

After scouring the internet for more information this is what we found:

Rumor has it that someone in Germany, possibly someone named Liebster, created an award for new bloggers to show appreciation and thanks for their blog, Liebster does indeed mean sweetheart in German, you can only receive the award from another blogger who has also received the award,  awards are to be passed on to blogs with 200 or fewer followers(some sites say 300 or fewer), once you give the award to a fellow blogger-you are to contact the blogger to let them know and you must copy  and paste the award on your blog.

We feel like we’ve officially become part of the blogging community.  You may be shaking your head as you mutter, “you blog so you were already a part of the blogging community.”  You are correct.  However, so many of the blogs we read and/or follow have a bevy of awards given to them by fellow bloggers and for a while now we have been asking/wondering, “how can we be down?”   We even considered creating one of our own…

Thanks to Nicole we don’t have to ask or wonder anymore.  We might still create one- just give us time.

Yeah, we feel more official… It’s nice to be recognized.  It’s nice to have a reader who thinks what we share is worthy of an award.  Mind you, we place little to no importance on awards but heck we love getting them.  Both of us will utter this same sentiment when we accept our Tony, Oscar, Emmy and Image awards…

Let’s get down to business- as you saw above this blogging award has rules.  Since we pride ourselves on being great citizens we follow all rules unless they have anything to do with grammar, traffic or life.  We will follow the same rules that Nicole followed since the rules vary a bit across the world wide web.

THE RULES

    1.      Thank the giver.
    2.      Pass on the award to 5 other blogs with less than 200 followers.  Leave a comment and follow them.
    3.      Copy and paste the award on your blog
    4.      Hope your followers will spread love to other bloggers.

MinDog & Metch  FOLLOWING THE RULES

    2.      It’s so hard to pick since we have been collecting lots of great blogs lately but hey when we get our next award we can spread more love.  For now here are our five in no particular order(we totally understand if you are not into this sort of thing and don’t accept but we’ve decided to play the game...at least you don't have to answer crazy questions):

Butterscotch over at SUNDAES WITH BUTTERSCOTH

Sydnie at LOVESTUTTER

Roses Daughter at MY LIFE

In the true Shitty Fab form of rule breaking we are passing this award on to six not five blogs... Saucy B kinda just made it since she has 255 followers- oh to be so popular.  Check her out over at  THE LIFE AND TIMES OF A SELF-PROCLAIMED SAUCY BITCH.

    3.      We have copied and pasted the award above but since we are so happy to receive it we will paste it again just because.

    4.      We sit here hoping that love is being spread this instant.  We’re spreading love, are you?

We hope you'll visit the blogs we listed above and maybe stop by Nicole's blog and see the others she nominated along with us.

"The value behind this award is for us to get to know other bloggers who might not be well known, yet have a lot to share... This is not about growing your list of followers (believe me, it won’t happen), but of building a community."   -That's what this blogger says and we hope it's true.

Have a happy Thursday!
