101 DAYZ: Big Big Baby

This is more of a rant than anything else about the medical profession and how they need to leave my "big baby" alone!

I'm an average sized woman, I was born 8lbs, 4oz. My husband while born at a more average weight, now stands at 6ft, 3in and 185lbs.  My dad is 6ft, 3in... etc.

At this point it's safe to say that my baby is going to come out BIG!

So what?

I'm tired of doctors and people in general treating their PREFERENCE as FACT!

The only true thing about all pregnancies is that the baby is gonna come out... OTHER THAN THAT EACH PREGNANCY IS DIFFERENT. There are SOOOOOO many variations! It's 2011 everyone KNOWS THIS!!

Clearly, my doctor doesn't like delivering big babies because everyone in the practice keeps commenting on X-Man's size.

The thing that is working my nerves is that MY BABY IS MEASURING WELL WITHIN THE RANGE OF "NORMAL" But no, they prefer to deliver 6lb babies vaginally so they are trying to make me think my baby is too big and that his size is a problem for natural birth!

I am 39 weeks tomorrow and the X-Man is measuring 7 1/2lbs (according to the doctor feeling the baby in my womb). Everything that I've read says that the baby, at this point, should weigh about 7lbs. So by my calculation- I'm doing WELL and he's doing WELL!

If I were to deliver tomorrow (which is very possible) I'D HAVE AN AVERAGE WEIGHT BABY! So why are they trippin'? And even if he gets bigger...who cares? I was over 8lbs myself.

So I'M PISSED...well sort of... I was pissed yesterday. Today I'm blogging so you can know how pissed I was yesterday.

I've done A LOT of RESEARCH!!! I'm that kind of person... and I don't think they like that. They just want to cut me open...NO!

An 8-lb. baby would be a sickly runt in my family! I was 11lbs, my mom was 5ft. 1in, and I am 5ft. 2in. It's ridiculous. A baby is going to be as big as it is, there's nothing you can do about it.

I'm a labor&delivery nurse. I've seen 10 pound babies come out of va jay jays and 5 pound babies need a c section. It's all in the hips mama. If your pelvis is big enough, you can birth anything!
