The post below, "Blogs Are," was actually written on February 5, 2011. Sometimes I think before I post. Sometimes I don't.

Funny.
Stupid.
Dangerous.
Informative.
Several of my friends have blogs. Some technical or dedicated to a particular subject and some are like ours- personal. I read them. Sometimes I take a break and wait for my night in to catch up on all of the sharing. Gathering facts about my friends this way has been fun. Most of the facts have included things like their favorite ice cream, the fact that they write songs, or that they have also gone on a terrible date or two, are conquring their battles with eating disorders, drug addiction, or whatever. I've been introduced to new artists, I've read new plays this way, amazing interviews, some of the writing is so good, so intriguing it sucks me in and I wish I could write like my blogging friends. All that and I've never been SHOCKED.
Until last night.
I was catching up on a blog and I found out that one of my friends is HIV positive. What the what?!?!? Was this something I was told at some point but didn't hear? I read that post approximately six times or maybe 88 times to make sure I wasn't reading a piece of fiction. On the fifth read I realized that my friend was really writing about himself. No fiction there. DAMN! DAMN! DAMN! I know progress has been made in research but it's still a DAMN, DAMN, DAMN!
What is one to do? Be a supportive friend just the same of course and perhaps read fewer blog posts or keep reading them- making sure to be prepared for anything. I mean anything.
LOVE!
