How MinDog Got Her Groove Back

Well... After 3 short months of life with Baby, maternity leave is over and Mutha booked a gig!

I didn't think I would book anything seeing as how all I have to wear to auditions are nursing tanks and sweat pants (NONE of my clothes fit and I refuse to buy a larger size... it's a little incentive to loose my baby gut).

NONETHELESS...

I auditioned for a new show starring Patrick Wilson called A GIFTED MAN.  I shot last week and finished up yesterday.

I thought I was going to loose my mind! It was the most time I have spent away from my Didda Budge since birth! Thank God he was with D (the hubs) on set and I was still able to breastfeed all day!

I spent the day on set talking about him, showing him to people, obsessing... etc. He has so quickly become my WORLD and I love it!!!!

WAIT wasn't this how I got my groove back?

I guess I should change the post title to How MinDog's Groove Got Better!

What's up with your groove?

Excited, Excited, Excited!

Maybe from the post title you know there's excitement in the air.

We finally decided to put ourselves out there/here -we had to in order to go further with our living out front journey!  And guess what?  We have more public followers, more comments than we've ever seen and boy oh boy we can't get enough.  Thank you all and please keep it coming!!!

We've been here almost a year and a half- so I'll call it two years because two sounds better than almost a year and a half.  We decided it was time to assess the situation, figure out if we wanted to continue blogging and  if we had any new bloggy goals to set for our shitty fab selves.

Fine we won't make you hold your breathe anymore- of course we want to continue blogging, of course we have new blog goals and of course our lives are more shitty fab than ever!  I mean come on did you notice that MinDog has had a baby?  Diapers = SHITTY  A Handsome Son = FABULOUS.  Now that I've proved a point...

We discussed our blog goals over the phone  as I was making my "what to pack for Paris" list and MinDog was busy  putting big check marks next to the things we wanted to do that we've already done while she was burping my Godson.

For example we've kept the blog up for more than two months (WOOT).  We've written some good truthful stuff, some "bad" stuff, some funny stuff, some more funny stuff... we've shared lots of real life stuff and I am proud of that (HOORAY for living out front).    We've joined blogging networks in the past few months, set up our facebook page and twitter account in an attempt to connect (YES).  Made some blogging friends other than the people who are bloggers and were already our friends before we started blogging (DOUBLE YES). We created our leave your link/faves page(umm...TRIPLE YES- now all we need are for some links to be left).  I hope you got all the crazy I just wrote...

So whats next?  We are going to open THE SHITTY FAB SHOP.  That's why I'm/ we are so excited.

We have great ideas and believe it or not MinDog and I are extremely crafty and skilled at things other than acting.  Before we open our SHITTY FAB SHOP we want to have our first give away (trust me you want this Shitty Fab exclusive) and before we have our first give away we want to reach 100 followers.  And when we reach 100 followers we'll start posting the SHITTY FAB SHOW that we've been planning.  Want can I say?  WE HAVE BLOG PLANS GALORE!

We're closer than we were  last week but we're not quite there yet... we can't wait to reach ours goals because we're Shitty Fab and that means we love setting goals so we can reach them-  just so we can set more goals.  Cyclical isn't always bad!

What are your next set of blogging goals if you're a blogger?  If your're not a blogger what goal are you aching to reach?

Doors to THE SHITTY FAB SHOP will open soon!  Please stop by.

...Unrelated but sort of related-  yesterday I got an email asking what being shitty fab is.  There's a link that answers that in the about section of our side bar and also on the welcome page... but in case you missed those links or don't want to look for them CLICK HERE TO FIND OUT WHAT WE MEAN WHEN WE SAY WE LIVE SHITTY FABULOUS LIVES - mind you our definition is always evolving, just like us.

Have a great Tuesday!

101 Dayz: Baby Kicks REMIX!

Ok!

I know I already wrote a blog about the kicks and how miraculous they are...and yayayayayayayafadadadadagfh;ghhg;fsgj;lj!!!!

But man oh man...can we deal with how big this widda guy is getting?

MY MY MY!!!

He keeps me up at night with the craziest sensations.

HOW do I even begin to describe the feeling of someone- a whole person inside of my body rolling around, kicking, punching, gliding, squishing my lungs, tapping on my ribs, mashing my bladder...?

AND HOW...HOW I ask... is there still the largest part of me that feels like it is the most amazing experience in God's great creation?

What is happening to me?

Once again all I know is that I can't wait to see this crazy little baby boy who is dancing wildly inside of me...

And all who know David and me personally know that he is actually going to be crazy...he can't help it!

Our Blog Went Crazy

The menu that is usually at the top of our blog has disappeared... Please excuse the lack of navigation and the way the blog looks while we try to remedy this technical craziness.

I know you really wanted to read OUR DADDY DIARIES, watch a silly old VLOG of MinDog in L.A., maybe read our WELCOME INFO or what we have to say about ACTING, maybe you wanted to be the first to add your LINK to our new faves page, or see what the POPULAR POSTS are today or just read a LETTER...

Too bad Blogger has let us both down.  Come back later and you'll be able to access all.  We promise... I mean we hope.

Since you're here go ahead and click on one of the links in this post or scroll down.  You might find something you like.

A newly updated blog without navigation is what I call SHITTY FAB!

*UPDATE- The menu has reappeared but it doesn't work.  It's not connected to the pages that exist.  Well due to unforeseen circumstances and the rain (I'm sugar I might melt if I go out there) I'm stuck in the house.  Since I'm stuck I get to sit here and try to figure this all out... also somehow our default font size has decreased... what is going on here?!?!?  About to try everything- don't the technical gods know I love this blog and need it to operate the way I want it to at all times?

*UPDATE 2- We're finally back in action!

Prepping For Paris

I'm an official solo traveler.  I've traveled solo before but I've always known someone where I was visiting or I've always met a friend to continue a journey accompanied, or I've been traveling for business...  Now, I'm going on a solo adventure from beginning to end.  The only purpose for this trip is to explore and observe. This makes me an official solo traveler.

Paris here I come!

I do my fair share of imagining and over the years-despite how corny it is- I've imagined: myself in front of the Eiffel Tower(wearing something red) having my photo taken by a stranger, walking down the Champs- Elysees and catching  a film without subtitles where I don't understand a word but I understand the story, getting on a boat going up and down the Seine right after a nice bicycle ride.

It's eerie because when I've imagined myself in Paris I've always been solo and funny enough that's how it will be.

I've imagined my picnic in Paris- with the fresh bread sticking out of the basket or bag and my hair is wrapped(real tall like Ericka Badu used to wear) and the Parisians dressed in yellows and whites  look at me and say, "she's so African and she's in Paris and we love her like we loved Nina Simone."  Yep, in my imagination they really say that.  Don't even ask what I imagine when I prep for Kenya, Egypt and Greece.

And I'm a sucker for touristy things.  Standing inside of the Notre Dame Cathedral, near the Arc De Triomphe, a little Dali anyone, wine tasting and back to the Eiffel Tower for a too expensive maybe not so good meal at night as the city lights up...I've always skipped the Louvre on my short imagined trips to Paris but maybe I'll make it there in reality.  Isn't that what adults do?  Maybe not.

Either way the best thing about traveling is realizing that despite a few customs, different roads, rules and sometimes a different language people are the same...  I can't wait to see how much of the same the Parisians in Paris are.

I celebrate differences but man I'm learning that celebrating the sameness is important too.

So many things to do in Paris.  I look forward to doing what I love to do most when I leave NYC- hang with the people who are from where I'm visiting and absorb...  I'm ready for a Parisian stroll people!

Did I mention I'm getting there by luxury liner...  Yes I'll be back on the Queen Mary 2.  Oh did I mention that I don't speak French?  Oui- my life is totally SHITTY FAB!

Pictures and posts to follow of course.

Have you been to Paris?  What shouldn't I miss while I'm there? Airbnb

"A Kind Of Paradise"

Engaging in the other stories.  Combating the single story is the thing...  Ran across this Ted Talk video here because I was here.

Sundays With Mommy

A few months ago my mom said, "I want to have a meeting with you and your siblings."  Being the brat I am I assumed she wanted us to bond or something and I immediately began whining.  "I'm not in the mood for a meeting Ma.  What do you want to talk about?"  "I want to let you kids know what I would like to have happen when I die."

WHAT????  I flipped out.  Truth is my mom is aging.  "Is this a premonition?  Do you feel like you're about to die?  Why do you want to talk about this now?  Is something wrong with you?"

"Calm down," she said.  How was I supposed to calm down?  In an instant my mother had me imagining life without her and now she wanted me to calm down.  INSANITY!

That conversation led to Sundays with Mommy.

In this video my mom burst into a hymn(she does that often) that we used to sing in church when I was a kid.

I realized I don't spend enough time with my mother.  I speak to her everyday but I don't spend enough time with her and considering the fact that she just moved around the corner...  I must/should see her more.  So I decided that I would spend the night with her every Sunday.  My visits of course aren't limited to that day but the mother-daughter sleepover is definitely happening every Sunday.

My new proclamation also made me commit to my project of recording her stories and my goal of learning to speak more than seven words in Krahn.

LIFE!

If/When I Get Married

Dear Future Husband,

I’m changing plans on you.  I still want to go to Kenya for our honeymoon but I don’t want to fly there.  I mean eventually I do but first I want to take a voyage on a ship.  I mean shouldn’t we?  Especially since we don’t have to journey down below in horrific conditions.  We can think of it as traveling in style the way our ancestors should of traveled.  I didn’t have to say that but how can I bring up the idea of a trans- Atlantic crossing and not mention our ancestors?

So here’s the plan…  You’ll need about two months off.  We’ll board the Queen Mary 2 and let the people on that ship who love their jobs take care of as we journey across the ocean and we’ll eat a lot so you loving me in my bikini will have to happen in the first two hours of our honeymoon.  Oh wait you love me no matter what-OKAY.  You may not want to wear a tux almost every night but please indulge me- you know I love seeing you in one.  Anyway- we’ll get off in Europe somewhere, fly to Kenya enjoy some time there about two weeks, fly back to where ever we want in Europe and make our way to South Hampton to board the Queen Mary 2 again and journey back to NYC.  When we get to NYC we’ll pause for a hot sec and then off to the island of your choice(you do get to decide something).

We’ll stay on that island for two weeks alone and then we’ll invite our favorite friends to join us.  They will come.  The celebration will continue for another week and then you’ll go back to whatever it is you do and I’ll be on a set somewhere acting.

Is this plan okay with you?  Maybe you want to see the world on our honeymoon instead...  I don't mind but you'll have to take three and a half months off in that case.

Love you much,
Metch

*The video is from my first voyage on the Queen Mary 2.  This was the voyage that made me adjust my/our potential honeymoon plan.

101 DAYZ: Baby Shower

Well, I had the baby shower!!

I got so many things and so many gift cards and it was an AMAZING time.

D's aunt came up from Tennessee and everything!

MY MOM HOOKED IT UP!!!! She had everything so fierce and ma MILZ (Mother in Law) did her thang.

Now to the crew- Yassie and ma number one stunna Metch came in like gangbusters!

Cleaning, cooking, living, giving, Metch started runnin' the show and hosting so that my Mom could have fun and chill with guests! I mean COME ON IT WAS PERFECT!

And only people who know my family know that we are LOUD- a loudness beyond anything I think others can imagine. We make loud families seem quiet.

It was packed, LOUD, and fun. I am so blessed!!

And I feel so loved!

I'm 32 weeks pregnant and able to buy buy buy baby stuff, and spend D's mon-T! I love it!

101 DAYZ: 10 Weeks to Go!

I am 30 weeks today!

Throughout the pregnancy I have been keeping track of the baby's estimated development on a few good websites. The sites have been giving me information about what is happening to my body and what is going on with my widda wudda!

EXAMPLE: Today at 30 weeks my baby buzzard (D is the Old Buzzard)is starting to develop wrinkles on his widda brain (AKA Gettin
' Smart). He can now regulate his body temperature and even feel the sensation of pain! AAAAAAHHHHHHHH!

Even though I've been told it is odd...I also Google pictures of babies and ultrasounds to get an idea of what he looks like in there...

LOOK AT THIS!!!!

This is a picture that I got off of a site called My First Bub. This baby was born at 30 weeks!!!!

OH MY GOD!!

I imagine that this what size X Man is every time I feel him move around. OH MAN OH MAN!

That is a REAL LIFE BABY! I'm having a REAL LIFE BABY! This is sooooooooooo Crazy!!

Confession Number One

Having recently decided to use  my energy only to do good in the world I've been taking a few trips down memory lane.  I've been thinking about all the insane/not good "stuff" I've done.  So much so that I've decided to confess some of the "stuff" on the SHITTY FAB pages.

I can't believe the insanity with which I used to operate.

If any of my confessions pertain to you- please take the post as an indirect apology.  I 'll give you one in person the next time I see you... that's if you know you should get one.

I am ashamed of these true stories.  There is no excuse for horrible behavior but real human action taken in extreme moments of rage, love, pain, happiness and whatever other feelings you can think of can be forgiven right?  I mean the beauty of becoming an adult is that somewhere along the path you figure out how to manage your feelings, organize them and learn from them without committing crimes or dangerous acts that you can never undo.

That said, the confession I'm about to share is pretty awful so please brace yourself and please, please, please - don't judge me.

THE CONFESSION

My friend and I had been having issues with another set of friends.  We pretended to like them and they pretended to like us but we all knew the real deal.  One day my friend and I were in close proximity to one of the other girl's personal belongings and we spotted a journal.

We went back and forth about whether or not we should read it.

We decided to read it.

We laughed and laughed about some of her most personal feelings and thoughts.  I remember snorting and having to catch my breath because we were laughing so hard. Around the fifth or sixth page all laughter stopped.  On this neatly written page that had hearts doodled in the margin she was going on and on about how my friend was a bitch and on and on about how fat and ugly I was.

I couldn't believe it.  She was journaling about me.  Calling me fat and ugly.  At the time I had serious issues about every inch of my body and the way I looked.  She hit me where it hurt most and all I saw was rage.

Without thought, like a zombie I walked right to her room, jumped on her bed, pulled my pants down and urinated.  I jumped off of the bed spit in the urine, went and got a spoon, stirred it, blotted the area so that it would dry undetected and I could go to sleep that night knowing she was laying in my fat ugly piss.

I knew it was wrong, but I wasn't thinking with clarity.  I was thinking with hurt and anger and rage and  the tears that I couldn't allow to fall.

I shouldn't have been reading her journal in the first place and I shouldn't have urinated in her bed and I shouldn't have spit in the urine and I shouldn't have let her sleep in that bed...  We didn't even have a concrete reason for not liking each other.  It was just a thing to do I suppose.

It should have never gotten to that point.  We should have been friends or cordially decided that we were not meant to connect and kept it pushing but  that's not how it happened.  Instead she journaled about me and I invaded her privacy and urinated on her bed...  I don't quite remember but I bet at one point we were going to be friends and one of us probably misinterpreted something the other did or said and so we started down the road toward journaling and piss...

Things look so different from the adult side.
